Securing Wifi Networks

Strong passwords:

Use complex passwords that combine uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Aim for at least 12-16 characters in length. Avoid using easily guessable information (e.g., birthdays, common words).

Network Authentication:

SSID management:

Hide the SSID (Service Set Identifier) to make the network less visible to casual users. Change the default SSID to something unique to prevent easy identification of the router brand or model. Avoid using personal information in the SSID.

Implement secure authentication methods such as Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP). Strong authentication helps prevent unauthorized access to the network. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) can further enhance security.

Encryption:

Use strong encryption standards like WPA3 for wireless networks. Ensure that sensitive data is encrypted during transmission and storage. Regularly review and update encryption protocols to guard against vulnerabilities.

Guest networks:

Set up separate guest networks to isolate visitors from the main network. Limit guest access to essential services and prevent access to sensitive resources. Regularly monitor guest network usage for suspicious activity.
